My Birthday

Breakfast...
After a yummy breakfast the kids gave me the wonderful cards and drawings they had prepared for me.  Here is the poem written by Patrick.
It's time to scream
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
It's not about me
Infact, it's all about you
because today you're 43.
You look like you're 32.
You might not be as tall as a tree
but I guess I'll just have to settle
with my wonderful mummy.

I wrote this rhyme with
all my heart, no help from Mister Lazy
but oh, stop now, I'm on a roll,
have a laugh, maybe two.
Today, let's all woo hoo!

I love you Mummy
and have a wonderful day.

Hooray!

Lunch...
We headed to Dee Why for lunch and a stroll on the beach. It's the height of winter but the weather is amiable.

Happy 43rd!

You cannot go to the beach and not indulge in fish and chips!

Speaks for itself!

Big Kev

Dinner...
I was excited to see my sister and nephews. We went to a local pizza joint and it was INCREDIBLE. I love the pizza here and the salad wasn't bad either.

Fun and Games....
After dinner, we enjoyed a delicious White Port and birthday cake substitute...healthy bran muffin..hmmm????

Hand Ball King

So the new craze for my kids is Hand Ball.

We searched everywhere for the appropriate balls, finally finding them in KMart.

Then it was on. Patrick and I had a Hand Ball Showdown outside our room at Lilydale Lakes, for about an hour before the sky turned and the heaven's opened up!

Great Nana Rocks!

A big highlight for Patrick and I was a visit to Drouin to see my Nana who recently turned 80. She is a crazy, delightful, honest woman who, with twelve brothers and sisters, four husbands and six children of her own, has seen her fair share of life. Her stories are captivating. Her comments will keep you holding your sides from spilling your intestines onto the floor.

May I present, Nana Vera...

Visit To Melbourne, Victoria

Patrick and I flew to Melbourne to help my mum pack up her house and then drive her to Sydney where she will now be living.

We wanted to stop by The National Gallery of Victoria so that we could see the Goblet decorated by William Beilby around 1765. From Southern Cross to Flinders Station, we could not help but remark how Melbourne appeared to us as amalgamation of Edinburgh, Washington and New York. A fusion of classic architecture and modern materpieces. Alas, the weather definitely reminded us of Portland!

We spent hours looking for the glass but were distracted by masterpieces by the likes of Monet to the marvels of contemporary works by Ipousteguy. We finally found the Beilby glass enameled by the legendary William Beilby.

Just A Walk In The Park

Nothing like a sunny afternoon to go for a walk in the park. A minute from our house is Lane Cove National Park, a treasure right here in the city. The Kookaburra's thought the same thing. Usually fairly elusive, they were all right here to say hello.
